[You're in a cafe. Whether you have no recollection of coming here or simply wandered in by choice, it doesn't really matter. It's certainly quaint, the atmosphere warm and inviting even without that many customers there right now. There's a menu on the table with a wide variety of desserts and coffees, or you could simply take a seat up at the counter. Regardless of where you sit though, the girl behind the counter will call out to you.]

So, what's it gonna be? [In a red leather jacket and kimono, she probably doesn't seem like she's actually working here, but ??? it's not like anyone else is asking, right.]

b. the opposite of a warm welcome

[This is where I just start laughing at meta, I'm sorry. YOU'RE TAKING A WALK DOWN THE STREET, just a regular day in your canon universe because it's peaceful and what do you have to worry about, right!! Sorry that's about to all go down the drain though.

OUT OF NOWHERE, there's a girl swiping at you with a very dangerous, very sharp-looking knife. Her eyes glow unnaturally bright blue and magenta, and it doesn't matter if you haven't even said a word to her, she's glaring daggers at you. Here's hoping you were able to dodge.]

[it's not like akira is really any stranger to quiet, empty cafes—if anything, this might even be busier than even some of leblanc's busiest days.

so it's a perfectly good atmosphere as far as he's concerned; the cafe itself is quaint, the offerings seem servicable, and that's enough to compel him to want to sit down and see if the coffee is any good.

especially when he's being asked what he wants almost immediately after sitting down at the counter. shiki doesn't necessarily look like she works here, but... she's behind the counter? she's asking what he wants?

[Shiki, most people would be happy to get a simple task....... But that's what happens when you're only here working because you're bored and need to kill time. With a sigh, she quickly gets him his cup of coffee, setting it down carefully.]

Here. Try not to burn yourself. [It's a very hot cup of coffee, but that's just how they do things here. Aside from that though, it's good! Whether it matches up to Leblanc, well, let's leave that to the connoisseur here.]

[he says it dryly, but he's not at all bothered by it. he's used to very hot coffee, but it's not a bad warning to get when giving it to a stranger.

some people are kind of reckless about those things, aren't they? he can think of a few people who would probably be that way, at least.

in any case, before he even takes a sip because of said heat, he may as well ask:]

Do you have any recommendations? [he's not unwilling to try something else, since she seems to be judging his plain choices!]

Hmm... All the pies here are pretty good. The manager's a real nut for making them. The curry's not bad either, but I'd stay away from the mapo tofu.

[Unless he'd like to die from spice, but Shiki assumes that most people aren't here for that. She looks back towards the kitchen though, thinking about what ingredients they have in stock right now.]

If you want something else though, I could probably whip it up. Probably.

shiki did kind of say the magic word, and though it's incredibly subtle for his somewhat muted expression, akira does seem to perk up a bit.]

...The curry.

Curry. [It seems like a weird thing to latch onto, but she's just pseudo-hired help anyways. Who is she to judge?] Alright, one plate of curry it is.

[And she'll set it down in front of him quickly enough. There isn't anything special looking about it, but it is a good curry. Maybe not specifically tailored to compliment their coffee unfortunately, but good curry all the same.]

Anything else I can get you, or is it time to dig in?

[look. he likes curry, and he likes it with his coffee. of course, none of it is going to be the same as leblanc—but he doesn't expect it to be.]

I think that'll be fine for now. [and then, with a bit of a smile:] Thanks.

[look, he can be polite and courteous despite being a delinquent, right? ]

[At least Shiki would never guess his secret delinquent tendencies. Akira has the hapless, harmless student gig down pretty well. (Or she might just be biased into thinking black-haired guys with black glasses tend to be pretty normal, but that's another story.)]

Well, enjoy then. [Now would be the time any good employee would go around to the other customers and make sure they're alright, but instead Shiki just leans on the counter to watch. Even if it's not her food personally, call her curious.

And, of course, she is just that bored.]
